Undecided - Foundations

In the kickoff sermon of our new series "Undecided," we explored the critical importance of establishing Jesus as the foundation of our lives. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 and Luke 6:46-49, the message emphasized that Jesus is not merely a foundation we build upon, but the foundation itself. This foundational truth calls us to come to Him, listen to His teachings, and follow them, ensuring that our lives are built on solid ground. The sermon challenged us to examine the "materials" we use to frame our lives, encouraging us to choose values and habits that align with our faith. As we embrace our identity as God’s temple, we are called to reflect His presence in every aspect of our lives, making 2025 a year of decisive faith and unwavering commitment to Christ.

As we step into the new year, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the past and setting intentions for the future. It's a time of new beginnings, and what better way to start than by deciding to establish Christ as our foundation and then framing our life upon it?

A Fresh Start with a Firm Foundation

The beginning of a new year is a perfect opportunity to reassess our foundations. The sermon reminded us that Jesus is not just a foundation we build on, but the foundation itself. This is a crucial distinction. When Jesus is the foundation of our lives, everything else is built upon His strength and truth. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2025, let's ensure that our lives are firmly rooted in Him. We do this when we come to Jesus, listen to His teachings, and follow them. This simple yet profound process is the key to establishing a life that stands firm against the storms of life. In Luke 6:46-49, Jesus illustrates the importance of building on a solid foundation. As we listen to His voice and follow His guidance, we find stability and peace, even in uncertain times.

    Framing Our Lives with Purpose

The sermon also challenged us to consider the "materials" we use to build our lives. Are they durable and aligned with our faith? As we frame our lives, let's choose values, habits, and priorities that reflect the teachings of Christ. This intentional approach ensures that our lives are not only resilient but also a testament to God's love and grace. One of the best ways to help frame your life is by being in biblical community. At The Rock the best way to get into one of those communities is by joining a Group Experience like ReGen (recovery), ReEngage (marriage enrichment), Pathway (new to faith or The Rock), YA (18-29), or Students. At our Conway location we are also starting a monthly men’s group experience and monthly women’s group experience. Group Experiences, small groups, and serving on a ministry as a VIP is a great way to frame your life.

By doing this we establish ourselves as God’s temple, and His Spirit dwells within us. This identity should influence every decision we make and every interaction we have. As we embrace this truth, we become living examples of God's presence in the world, shining His light in our communities and beyond.

As we journey through this series, I encourage you to reflect on these principles and consider how you can apply them in your life. Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, there's always room to grow and deepen your relationship with Him.

If you find yourself undecided about certain areas of your life, take this opportunity to seek God's guidance and make a firm decision to follow Him. Our church community is here to support you, offering resources, groups, and prayer to help you along the way.

Let's make 2025 a year of decisive faith, where we build our lives on the unshakable foundation of Jesus Christ and help “one more” do the same!
